Anyone know a source for the type of pads or disk used with right angle die grinders. This will be used for paint removal and weld prep prior to paintng. I need the pads as well as the stem or collet as well as the rubber disk that the sanding disk mounts on. Thanks
You can find them under abrasive surface prep discs at: http://www.northern-online.com/ but they have them with a "speedlock feature" whatever that is. I am used to the adhesive units.
Try an auto paint store.
We have a "Matto's" near here, and a "Carsco". The Carsco sells all types of cleaners, solvents, swirl remover (detailing stuff.)
Matto's. . . . Paint, adhesives, pads, solvents, paint supplies. You name it.
We also have "Pep Boys" that sells some of the abrasive supplies, too.
the pads you are referring to are 3M "roloc" discs. they are pretty dern sweet, too. 3M 07480 and 07481 are the red (medium) and brown (coarse) 2" discs. they also make a 3". They have a little screw-on plug, that mates to the backing plate. There are several companies that are making them now, including "Glit" and others. We sell the 07480 & 81 in a 25 count box. There was a 3 or 4 pack in the 3M consumer line, but they are outrageous $$$$. There are also bristle discs in various grits. They are all great for their various purposes, but cylinder head surfaces are NOT one of them (just in case you get that idea, like I did....) Fel-pro specifically tells you NOT to use them, especially with aluminum. Spiffy tool on the market by Lisle is a roloc pad on a 6" shaft, with a collar you can hold and guide the disc. Engineered for accessing Mopar water outlets to remove the gasket, but handy for a ton of other things! Need more part #s or whatever, let me know! TomD
got the #s for those 3M discs..... here goes

I have a slick Chicago Pneumatic (CP) 3" sander that came with several discs and a carry case that works beautifully with these . Hope this is of some help!
