I doubt you'll have any problems, I have two cracks in mine sorta the same way, and I got inspected at one of those state inspection stations.

I've had mine inspected with a crack for several years without a problem. I was told as long as the crack doesn't obstruct the drivers line of view, then there shouldn't be a problem. Alot of that determination would probably be with where you had it inspected.......

Inspections vary greatly. Most don't do anything but honk the horn and flash the lights on a diesel.

Braking test usually means taking it out to the parking lot and mashing the pedal. If it stops, you pass.

But I have had them take one of those long handled mirrors like you see the border patrol using and look at the muffler for holes.

I don't think that you will have any trouble, and I certainly would not buy a new windshield.

in TX the only "wording" for windshield is that the wipers must make full contact with the windshield. No mention of cracks. I actually seen a car at a show with Lexan for a windshield and a TX insp sticker. I asked about it the next time I was in for an insp and the inspector said rules are real loose on windshields, go figure??
