292 Abuse

I had the 292 in my '63 rebuilt about 6 months ago. It seemed to run okay, but I only drove it a few times, and discovered that I had several other major 'issues' to deal with; exhaust manifold cracked in two, screwed up tie rod, leaking oil filter adapter, electrical... I was kind of out of money at the time, but have done little bits over time and am about to start her back up and see if I can get her licensed. Problem is, I let her sit unstarted that entire time. Anything special anyone recommend that I do before I start her?

Thanks, Eric

Shouldn't have any problem cranking; probably would recheck all connections and verify that carb is clear of any debris & the only problem is probably going to be a died or weak battery at first; six months isn't to long of a sit still; Hopefully your fuel isn't contaminated by exposrue to the winter elements or rain etc; Also I was told of an old wise tail that you could just bump the starter first to re-lubricate system before initial firing. but again six months isn't a long time to no be running.

Cranking it for a little while to get oil pressure would not hurt. But like Customcab said, it hasnt sat for too long.
