Reverse Lights

In having my windows tinted and my torsion bars tightened I have noticed that my reverse lights are no longer efficient. I am considering having my rear bumper (it is painted) cut to accept round fog lights. Has anyone done this or anything similar? Any thoughts what size lights to use? I will post a follow up as soon as I can get some costs from shops around here and have the work done.

I had something like that on my old bronco when I had 5% tint. Found them at autozone and they are just for hooking up some extra back up lights. Had mine hooked on to the hitch. They were about 1"x3". Probally was just a 55 watt bulb.

You want to do an in the rear bumper installation, correct? If so go to any parts store and get a utility light with with a 4 1/2" OD rubber casing. This light has a nice pattern for illuminating the rear area and works well for backup and utility. They were 9.95 ea and I mounted two on top of my tool box for work lighting in the bed and also for hooking up the gooseneck at night. They'd do an awesome job in an in the bumper installation. I'd be tempted to use some vacuum line and slit one side to make a trim collar around the hole cut.

I love the ones on my rear bumper. Come in real handy for more than just backing up, especially discouraging tailgaters.

Sorry I haven't replied until now. I just returned from a trip to Destin, FL. I appreciate the info. I am going to start looking for some lights this week as well as some one to weld some buckets in the rear bumper. I'll get some pics up as soon as I get it done. Never thought of putting some in the bed but that is a good idea. Thanks Tex, I'll look into that application as well. Yes, discouraging tailgaters will be on the plus side. It also works well on the oncoming driver who just refuses to turn off his brights.

My spare tire was mounted to the back of my tool box with two plates, inner and outer to reinforce and as each side of mybox opens from the end in dependently, I mounted the lights about 4 inches from the back edge and midway on the lid attaching the internal wiring to the inner stiffening brace with eye loops. Wire went up the center and split above the center support where the hinges are. 4" floods light the bed, make the work area very usable and make hooking up my gooseneck a snap at night. Ran wire for power from relay under hood to corner drain hole on driver's side and up to the tool box. I'm going to have to move the tool box back two inches as I need to install a headache rack to make carrying 16' pieces of trim a little easier when I have a lot to get to a builder.
