Cool wheel base lengths

My 79 F250 supercab long bed 4x4 shows a wheel base of 155. My regular cab long bed trucks 76,+ 2 78's all show a wheel base of 133. Can anyone tell me the measurement of a super cab short bed F250 4x4? Also where is this measurement taken, Front tip of the frame to the rear tip?

I found this by searching this forum with 'supercab wheelbase'. I like the search - you can find immediate answers to most of your questions...

"The regular cab is 133" and the SuperCab short box is 138.8"."

That is measured from the center of the front rim, to the center of the rear rim.

Wheelbase is measured from the centerline of front axle to centerline of rear axle.
According to www.car-part.com:
Available wheel bases in F150 are 117, 133, 139, and 155.
Available wheel bases in F250 are 133, 139, 150, and 155.
Available wheel bases in F350 are 137, 140, 155, 161, and 167.
I'm not sure what all match up to, I believe 117 is reg cab short box, 133 is reg cab long box, 139 is supercab short box, and 155 is supercab longbox. Looks like the F350 is a whole other ball game.

Cool

I tried the search but it came up with all kinds of unrelated stuff. If the supercab short box is 139 and the long box is 155, where are the extra inches added so I could cut that area off and make mine a short box?

Do you have a short box to put on your creation? They are very hard to find in decent shape.

Cool

I know of about four that are in decent to good shape that I can get for 200-300 dollars. I haven't bought one yet because I don't know if Chopping my frame will be feasable and not too expensive. I need to find out what area to cut out so I can show the fab shop exactly what I need done and get a price.

But then he'd have to twice the work to modify the frame to accept the supercab, then shorten the back half to accept the short box.

Cool

The regular cab long box wheel base measures 133 and the supercab shortbox measures 139. I would have to modify the frame to accept the supercab and then lengthen it the six inches to fit the bed. It would be more work.

its alot easier trust me if you think cutting your frame in half and doing all the work to make sure it strong enough to hold the weight and make it straight is easier then adding six inches to the end of the frame and flipping your springs around then a have at it! i've pics of my 75 i didnt cut anything

shorten the bed six inches behind the cab, and slap it on, i am doing the same thing with a stepside, i dont want more wheelbase so i didnt want to lengthen the frame, i like or accept the turning radius i have

yes like i said the frame will work without cutting anything you just have to add six inches to the end of the frame for the back bed mounts
