I have a 02 F250 crew 4x4. I haul a lot of heavy stuff often. I was wondering if there is a suspension out there that will still allow me to haul my heavy stuff. I'd like to go to about 6" or so. Anyone got any suggestions?
no, I'm looking for a whole suspension system that will still allow me to tow up to 17,500 lbs and run 37" tires without sagging springs or breaking something.
Buy the necessary lift components (track bar drop bracket, drop pitman arm, extended sway bar end links, longer brake hoses and e-brake cables, tapered rear spring blocks to adjust the axle pinion angle, etc) and have a spring shop make you springs to your load and hieght requirements. Most of the name-brand lifts are geared toward people who want a lifted truck with a cushy ride. My old '77 Chevy had a 6" lift with some stiff springs from hell that jarred my teeth out, but the truck could haul anything and handle the weight fine. They don't make lifts like they used to! If you're in southern California, contact National Spring in El Cajon (near San Diego). They will build you whatever kind of spring you want.
I'm not worried about gears right now at this point. So far what I've come up with is the 6.5" Pro comp with rear traction bars. Does anyone know anything about this kit? Like LasVegas250 said, I can always add airbags with my new springs if I notice them starting to sag, right?
jesse250 I have a 04 cc F250 4x4 6.0 with the 6.5" pro comp lift and rear traction bars with 37" bfg all terrain's, mx6 shocks and tow a 30' toy hauler not happy with the ride at all. i am thinking about swapping springs over to edge 6"
does it still haul worth a darn that big though? I'm not too awful worried about the ride because I'm offroad around the farm all the time. The only time I'm on the road really is when I'm fishing. I pull a 33' center console and that's the only "fast" pulling I'll be doing. It weighs about 12,500 full of fuel.

Jesse250 the hauling is not that bad it does squat in the back when you get any type of heavy load in it. I did put air bags on for towing. if you want a real good lift spring for weight try superlift springs I had the 8" frt and 7" rear it was solid like a rock but also rode like one to. had them on the truck for 2 months and went back to the procomp springs.
Alex, do you have any pictures of your truck with the pro comp lift on it? Sounds like to me my best option would be the 6.5" with airbags and traction bars. Does that kit come with everything you need? I just want to get everything straight in my head before I start spending hard-earned money, you know? I appreciate all your help and information.

I'd be real worried about gears at this point. If you have a 4.10 rear, you might be ok with the 37" tires, just a little bit of a dog. 3.73 or 3.55, and you'll think you're trying to haul a bulldozer with a Geo Metro. You should really look at putting in a 4.30 or 4.56 rear at the very least.
I appreciate the input jroehl. I was thinking of a 4.56 also. I wondering if I'll need to go that short of a gear though b/c I have a superchip in the engine and an airraid intake on it.
Jesse250 I do have some pic i can email you when i get home tonight from work i will get them off to you as for the pro comp kit yes evrything comes with it but the rear traction bars are separate. and as for my gears right now they are still 3.73 with 37" tires towing are 12,000 # toy hauler its a little slow off the line but when you get going it's fine I can pull some grades around Calif with no problem but I also have the banks six gun tunner
yeah man, email them to me when you get home if you don't mind. I think I've pretty much decided on the procomp 6.5" and the traction bars. The guys in west virginia at national tire have a good price on this kit if anyone is interested in buying one.
