Question Downpipe only?

could a person replace only the stock crimped downpipe with a 4in. and a reducer to fit the stock exaust? seems like it would have a positive effect. dont have the moolah for a complete system. am new to this stuff, but quickly becoming addicted to mods. was always told that if youre teachable, a teacher will appear!

I replaced mine with a 3 inch and it barely fit past tranny, hooked up with stock exhaust. gained 50 km per tank fuel economy. Buy it off ebay, got mine for 85 US, they sell the same one on this site for $130US

The downpipe on the 01 in your sig. is not crimped, it's merely too small. Replacing it with a 3.5" unit to match the rest of the factory exhaust will make a noticable improvement.

I know you said you dont have the "moolah" to do the whole thing but if your doing a downpipe only, check out this site first and it may or may not change your mind to the whole system. http://www.rpmoutlet.com/powerpipe.htm Only 275 for whole kit and 360 for dual exit. Both 4" turbo back.

I'm with Cookie on the 3 1/2 thought. Before I put on my Hog 4", all I did was cut out the stock muffler and weld in a 3 1/2" pipe. It shot out of the hole quicker then than it does now with my 4" system because the turbo could spool up faster. The 4" however flat out rocks in the middle and upper RPM range. Perfect for towing heavy loads or passing those Subarus that pass and pull in front of you and slow down just because they didn't want to be behind that big dirty diesel truck. 70mph-90mph in a couple of seconds (with a few other mods) and the look on the people's faces are priceless. If you want around town quickness and you don't tow a lot, start with just a straight pipe in place of the muffler. If you want more then add a 3 1/2" downpipe. If you go 4" downpipe to 3 1/2" exhaust you might be disappointed in the performance results. And afterall mods are supposed give you that sh#t eating grin everytime you get behind the wheel.

You be the judge of what's a "good deal."

If you are doing the downpipe, you might want to go to a Walker Big Truck Muffler. <$50 for the muffler and <$50 to get it installed.

So you can do the DP and muffler for ~$200. Those are the 2 big restrictions in the exhaust.

I agree. I have heard some good things about RPMOutlet, but I have also heard some really bad things. The cost savings better be equal to or better than the potential hassle.

I've heard 50/50 about rpm, a friend bought over 1200 dollars in parts from there and he got them fine. Best bet would be buy the stuff from them on ebay (they sell there often) and if they dont deliver you can report them and get your money back probably (paypal).

You far have less consumer rights with Paypal than with a credit card.
