Outside air temp readout problems
The outside air temp readout is malfunctioning and always reads -40 f, on my 2000 F150 Scab. Would anyone that has tracked this problem down mind sharing the solution or have advice on what may be causing this problem? There is a wire that runs along the driver's side fender that has a bare connector on the end. I asked the local Ford shop manager what the connector should connect to, but he didn't have any suggestions. I am wondering if the temprature sensor is missing from this wire.

The sensor should be in front of the radiator under the plastic cover.

No, the outside temp sensor is just for the temp reading on the overhead console. The engine computer gets air temp from the intake air temp (IAT) sensor in the intake tube. Is this what you were asking? Not sure I understood your question.
