I bought a 2002 EB Explorer with 35k on the clock on April of 03. About 3 months ago, I started noticing that the tranny was acting up a little bit. Probably at about 68-70k miles.

It's hard to explain, but when cruising at around 50mph, it felt like the trans was slipping. It would jerk a little bit, but if I let of the gas it would stop.

I decided it was time for a fluid change. I dropped the pan and drained the fluid. Hate the fact of the filler hole, but what can you do. Anyway, when I did refill, I used Mercon III, not V. Didn't catch this until the next day. So now I have a mix of III and V in there. It feels like it's shifting alright, but now I'm concerned. It just doesn't feel the same. I could be paranoid, but I really think I should get this flushed and filled now. It's way to cold here in Detroit to be outside doing that junk again battling with a seized filler bolt.

Anyway, am I going to run into problems with the Mercon III fluid, or is it safe to drive for a while until I can take it into a shop? I'd do it myself, but I really don't have the time, or patience to do it all again.
