Quick Transmission/transfer case question
My new HD OEM reman tranny requires Mercon V.
My transfer case uses Mercon III.
There is a gasket between the two when you split them.
Do they "exchange" fluid?
I don't want the Mercon III from the transfer case to get into the Mercon V in the transmission.

No, the transfer case and the tranny do not exchange fluids. They are independent of each other.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think that it did, but I wanted to get confirmation.

There was never a Mercon III, only Mercon, and Mercon V. You can use Mercon V in the transfer case and the trans.
