My 73 f250 360 c6 is TIRED. My buddy recenlty rolled his 75. He has now purchased a donor 74 and taken just the cab, and is offering me the rest for 200$. Another 360, but manual tranny, and short bed to my long beg. I don't care about losing the long bed, as I don't really need it, and the motor and tranny on the donor are strong. I know the auto to manual swap is a bit involved, but the guy selling this to me is my mechanic, and has offered help. Sounds like a worth while swap to me, anyone have any thoughts? The m/t will be kind of fun to have, and this is ranch truck, so smog is not an issue. Is swapping my cab to the donor a good move? Just fishing for ideas. Thanks guys.
By this, I mean I would put my cab on the donor. My bed etc. are well trashed, not worth putting the other motor/tranny in my truck.

Go for it. Another truck for parts and better condition for only twohundred smackeroos! Sweet deal. I wish I had a short bed. Cab swaps are easy. You can do it by yourself if you are handy with wood and pulleys!

Yes, but is there anything special to look out for if you go from say, a regular cab to an ext or crew?
If you stay with the same length cabs you are cool. If you get a longer cab, ie crew/super, then you have to change stuff. If you had a long frame and then put a supercab with a short bed you would have less to modify. Same goes for the crew. You only have so much frame to set stuff on. Get out the measure stick and see what you have to move and trim.
now this i know about...about a month ago i done a full body swap on my 78. the cab is heavy as H***. U need atleast 5 good sized men. and watch ur fingers..I almost broke mine cause they sat the cab down on my hand. Hooking all the electrical and shafts back up takes a good 3 hours. But when i done it was worth it....seeing how the truck was free and looked way better than mine!
