well it happend.05 f350 cc v10 tourqshift 1700 miles(yes 17 hundred miles) transmission came apart and blew a hole through the case. dealer say's they have to get in touch with ford to see how to go about fixing it .wondering if anyone else has been through this and how they fixed your problem.
could take them 3 weeks to fix ; try telling that to your plow customers
I saw a story on the news about plow operators blowing up TS transmissions. The problem was a large snap-ring inside the transmission which isn't strong enough. When the snap ring breaks it can send a peice right through the case. This might be what happened to you. In the story they said ford is trying to come up with a stronger snap ring.
thanks for the news!i'm waiting for my own 250 v10.and now worry about the trans, take a good look at all the post i think in the superduty section there are several threads on the trans problem also in here there is one, good luck man hope they replace it fast http://www.plowsite.com/index.php?
What I don'y get is that there have been tons of 6.0\tprqueshifts running around since '03, alot of these are plowing snow and I have only heard of this problem with the new ('05) gas motors. This does really concern me as I plan on ordering a new sd soon, that will NOT happen untill I am positive that this is fixed as I plow a ton of snow and can be just about garanteed that this will happen to me.
i must admitt as much as this sucks i love the truck. i don't think anyone ordering one will have any regretts . it could be worse; i could own a dodge
I hate to tell you but if I had a '05 and it started riping trannys apart I would have regrets real fast! We plow a ton of snow and there are no excuses for lots not being cleared, as far as I am concered the truck is a usless piece of crap! The dodges are not having tranny trouble, it's the guys that are running hot boxes on there trucks that eventually run into problems and they know they are coming, no big deal. There is no way I will even think about placing my order untill I know this whole tranny deal is long gone, it's not just the reverse pin too. You would think these things would be awsome by now since they have been out since '03 behind the 6.0, WTF??? Looks like I will be sticking with my reliable 4R100 for a little while longer, at least I know it is going to stay together and not let me down! This deal is no laughing matter to me with the way people sue these days, I don't need that on my mind when I go to sleep at night...
sorry to rub ya the wrong way. no harm intended. never said it was a laughing matter, still have my payments and no truck who's laughing? but i can sit here and put ford down or let them make the changes to the tranny it needs. i know of 4 other trucks in town w/the same problem(2 which are diesel 05)i'm sure ford knows what the problem is. wouldn't be surprised to see a recall soon..
No harm done, it just makes me sick to think of all the guys that have got these trucks and now they are in the shops waiting to get fixed, if my truck was down the dealer had better give me there plow truck and I don't think they would want to do that! Sounds like you are on the losing end yourself. Ford mightbe fixing the problem, but what about all the metal shaving that have been going through the tranny, I am guessing they will say the filter got all those and there was no harm done to the rest of the tranny? If something breaks in the tranny and wrecks the tranny, the need to replace the tranny, not just fix the weak link and call it good, knowing them they will put the old fluid in it and not change the filter after all Ford probally won't be paying for that.

Nope, 6.0 is in the shop today with cracked tranny 2800 miles, 43k for a truck and a snap-ring breaks.....great.....
If I understand this correctly, snow plowers have this happen due to the fact they are shifting from drive to reverse so much. If so then it will take longer but show up on the trucks that don't do so much shifting later, maybe after the warranty is up. Makes you really nervous about keeping it long term. Sorry to you guys who can't get your work done due to a snap ring.

I do plow with my truck but it was ordered with the plow package, I know its just a spring and alternator upgrade but they gotta know what these trucks are being used for....cost them a new tranny for a 5 cent part....duh
Ya know,
I don't really get Ford sometimes. They're old transmissions were great. Pulling horse trailers, skid loader, etc with no problem. If you go to a horse show, all you see are long trailers hooked up to Super Dutys. So...they go and change a good thing??!!!! I guess we'll see. In Ford's defense, my parents and my girlfriends parent bought BMWs at about the same time and withing 2500 miles, both had to have their transmissions replaced...so it does happen.

I agree. if you know something works why not just leave it alone....however if we can save 10 cents on every retaining clip in every truck tranny.....that's the way they see it....
QPS, I agree. I was not saying the trucks that are plowing are over doing it, mine has plow package also, just don't plow. I am concerned that I will have the same problem later, after the warranty is up. The truck is used for work so any time without it is bad. Hope yours gets fixed ASAP. Good luck.
