put in manual choke &problem will be solved ,easy to do ,did to mine &works great.
The prev. owner of my truck had installed a man. choke, but it never worked long without binding up. Someone here gave me great advice on using a better quality cable, and setting the cable up to pull the choke (rather than the normal opposite) and add a spring to help in the other direction. Do a search to help find his post.
Unfortunately, my carb died and we replaced it with one that had a functioning choke. I have to give it a quick press to the accelerator to de=activate it after the truck warms up, but this I also think this is SOP for this type of choke and don't mind doing it.
I liked the idea of a man. choke, but hated dealing with it binding up all the time.
You may have to replace the thermostatic coil spring. Over the years, they lose their tension and people try to regain that tension by over-adjusting the choke cap to the rich side. Just don't choke on the price of those heated springs, the last one I replaced was around $35. Oh, the spring and cap come as an assembly.
