P0420 Trouble Code...02 Sensors?
I have 96 Explorer 4.0 V6 AT 4wd with 70k miles. Trouble code said "System efficiency below threshold bank 1". I've tested the voltage and heater resistance on 2 of the 02 sensors with a digital VOM and the readings were low. haven't tested the sensor on passenger side manifold yet. my xray scanner isnt getting readings from any of the 02 sensors. i replaced the original plugs with bosch platinum a few months back and recently read where those aren't recommended. we have had a lot of rain here too so maybe the connectors got wet. i cleared the code without replacing the sensors and it hasnt come back for 2 days but i suspect that it will. i hope it's not catalytic converter.

I had the same code ended up being the right front sensor of the four. I have a SOCH 4.0l. I hated the code it first started popping up only after driving in wet weather or high humidity. The 420 code had no adverse affect on milage so I let it go till the check eng light bulb burned out then I fixed them both. By the way ay know p0420 reminds me of 4:20, I guess that this must be related?????
