Question Heat riser under Carb.

Hello all

I am getting ready to install a new 4 barrel Carb on my 352 65 f100.

Presently under the Motorcraft carb is a riser plate that has the hot water to the heater core running thru it.

My question is this. What is the purpose of the heater and should I continue to use it?

I know on performance engines we run the fuel thru a ice bath to cool the fuel for better atomizing.

Does the coolant actualy cool the carb or does it heat it up?

I was thinking of leaving it on but running the heater hose straight to the manifold return and not thru the riser.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Jon

Thanks CS

I'm going to run with out it for a while and see what happens. I bet they put them on for those cold states not this sunny California.

I'll let you know if it effects the performance or mileage.

Thanks again

It was there to warm up the air/fuel mixture when the truck is cold. There may have been an icing problem with these trucks.
