Warning Chime

I just installed a remote start in my 01 Screw. Now the chime rings whenever I open the door. I had the ignition tumbler out and noticed a small piece of plastic broke off inside the tumbler housing. I am assuming that it is off the switch that senses the key in the ignition. Would I be correct that the little swich grounds out to ring the chime when the key is in the ignition. If so I guess I need a new switch assembly. Any help would be appreciated.

That's the way the older trucks worked.

Thanks Franklin2. I guess I forgot to mention that the chime rang even with the key out of the ignition. I have corrected the problem. The little piece of plastic must have been a gaurd to prevent grounding to the housing. I was able to put a zip tie around the switch to hold it in place and it all works fine now. I just have to figure out why with the remote start hooked up my radio dies when I have the truck in gear and step on the brake.
