c-4 leaking at gear input shaft
Thanks, Duane
I know what you are looking for by the name *slip sleeve*. I've put two on (used two) for the yokes on a transfer case. Can't really give you a brand name. I went to an industrial bearing place.
Wouldn't know if the come as small as you need. You're talking about the shaft that goes thru the case right? Seems to me that you'd have to pull that shaft out to install the slip sleeve. (IIRC, it's a T bushing that butts up against the back end of the shaft)I'm guessing that can't be done with the hubs and clutch drums in place.
No wait, I'm thinking about the kick down lever. The shift lever has a nut and bracket on the inside, right? You might be onto something doable.
I'm curious how you sealed it twice. Isn't that set up a bushing and an O-ring? Maybe needs/try a thicker O-ring. Wild *** guess there. Good luck.
I appreciate your reply. I have resealed the shift lever twice. Remove the pan etc.. take the nut off the back side. The seal that goes in there is not a typical O ring. I wish it was. The reason I was asking if there was something to go on the shaft was that mine has a few pits in it. I am sure this is the cause of the leak. I think I am going to go to the transmission shop and buy a new c-4 shift lever and then swap out the arm. The arm on the car c-4 shaft does not stick out as much. I guess the welder and the dremel tool will come into play then.
I will figure something out here and reply back to you with what I come up with. Thanks again.
Duane
