On Sat. morning the truck started very hard but it started. I needed to go to the store about 20 minutes away so I drove it to the store and everything seemed fine. I got out of the store 10 minutes later it would crank but not start. After 3 hours and forty minutes of complete lies from Ford Roadside Assistant. They finally came and picked it up. I was only about three miles from a Ford Diesel center. I did get fuel on Friday Evening from the usual place. Could this be bad diesel fuel what are the signs? It did get colder as Friday at 4:30 it was 68 degrees and Saturday morning it was below freezing? Any other thoughts?
It's hard to believe a 6.0, which can't be any older than 2 years and a couple of months at the most, would have dead/dying batteries, but that's what it sounds like to me. In the crank-no-start mode, were there other relays and such clicking and chattering under the dash? That's usually the dead giveaway that the battery voltage is too low. A weak set of batteries will only get worse when the temperatures drop, so that could be why it "suddenly" had the problem on Saturday morning.
Ok, I heard back today they said that it was the high pressure oil pump. Has anybody else had this problem and could this do more damage to other things? Just curious if you guys have any information on this.
