7.3 PSD No Start problem

Drove my 2002 SD/CC/7.3PSD home last Thursday evening in nasty, rainy, slushy, then snowy conditions. Temp dropped from mid 30's to single digits in a matter of hours, freezing up everything in sight in a short period of time. Everything (including the screen door to the house) was well frozen the next morning. Truck does not start; probably nothing to do with the weird weather, but who knows. When trying to start I'm hearing what sounds like the solenoid or a relay clicking fairly rapidly. The interior lights, dash lights, everything electrical cycles off and on as the solenoid/relay cycles, but engine does not crank, and there is no sign of power reaching the starter. Lights do not appear dim, so not sure it's an alternator/battery problem. I'm out of town for the weekend so haven't been able check voltage level of the batteries or anything else yet. I'm listening to any and all suggestions; I get to look forward to solving this problem when I get home tomorrow afternoon. Thanks in advance for any input!

The first two things I'd do is to check the voltage in the batteries. If that checks out OK, I'd clean the terminals and posts on top of the batteries, to make sure they're making a good connection. Starters pull enough power that a weak battery can let the lights appear to operate normally, but not turn the starter.

Quadzilla's right. Low batteries will make that machine gun rapid fire click click click click sound from the solinoids.

I agree with all of you ... my first suspicion was batteries, but didn't have time to check as we were leaving town. Seemed odd, though, that the interior lights and all would cycle on and off as the solenoid (or whatever) clicked. We'll see. Thanks for ALL your input, it's appreciated. I've lurked here for a long time, but never before had any need to post.
