Thinking about buying a 7.3 motor that has been sitting in Florida for a year without being run. Ran great before was left alone. No leaks, strong etc.. Supposedly has 197K miles on it. What should I expect from a Diesel motor that sat that long? Any Diesel specific problems? I was told a Diesel should be run at least every few months. Am I just too gunshy at this point?

I Just Bought A 87 6.9 That Sat Since 2002 Runs Perfect.

 

My truck has an 89 7.3 that sat for exactly 1 year. The only real problem I ran into was that all the injectors were leaking due to the o-rings drying out. A trip to the Ford dealer and 16.00 later it runs fine.
