Ok, just picked up my new 05 psd, tq shift, s/c shorty. Black, charcoal int. Coming off a 99 f350 v10(still have it) the 05 RIPS! But why doesnt it have a light in the glove box? Small thing to complain about , but it is what it is. Its a lariat but I ordered it without the luxery pack, so I dont have the lie o meter, dont know if I screwed up on this or not. I got man hubs and t case(yes on a lariat!) and already caught myself reaching for the switch like on my 99. Wondering if i should have got esof. Another small thing, the wood grain stuff on the doors looks out of place. The center console seems cheap(captains). Funny how I spent so much time researching all this stuff and Im still second guessing myself. All in all, I love this truck. Oh yeah, it could really use a leveling kit, stat.
YZ Im with you. Did a lot of homework on this truck and ordered f-350 Super Cab, long bed 6.0 electric shift auto etc to find out that the lie o meter and "enhanced" guages that were stock on a Lariat in 04 are now a add on in 05 (enhanced package) Try to find anywhere in the literature what is included in the luxuary package other than "enhanced instumentation" and additional cheap looking plastic woodgrain.Plus Ohio trucks had to have a "dealer request" to get a cord on the engine block heater (dealer knew nothing about it)Now I see that Ford is tossing in $1000.rebate (my fault for ordering two months ago)If the sticker was not over $46,000.00 these small items would be just that. Its still a very good truck but the "nickel and diming" is a joke !! C'mon FORD wake up
I personally didn't like all of the wood grain stuff which is one the reasons I went with the XLT Sport package. There were just a couple of other options I wanted that I couldn't get with the XLT like the power rear slider. For the lie-o-meter, if you can't rely on it then what good is it? Especially if you chip it.
yysen, point well taken. I should of known things would not go well when the dealer called me 6 weeks after I ordered it and stated that the price had gone up and I would get a check back from Ford after I paid the new price. The truck is now back at the dealership with 4200 miles as am having turbo issues, mileage issues,I calculate 10-12 highway (it was 8) (their computer states 21mpg at 55mph)heater cord to be installed, found a bend in rear bumper and a small dent in pass front fender, excessive fumes in cab (many posts) Other than that, well satisfied.
Sorry to hear about the problems. I have just over 2100 and have not had any problems yet. I am getting 15-16 mpg average. It's funny that you mention your bumper. Mine was like that also. Bent down a little andn oticeable from the width of the gap on the side (Larger gap towards the top). Sice it is the sport package, I'll leave it like that. I'm afraid the paint won't match.
I have a 05 XL and cannot find the engine heater cord. I paid for the heater, but was the cord another option? The dealer is 20 miles away, and would like to plug it in to get there. -9 tonight... in WI
I got the 04 lariat with esof, electric slide rear window(love it). My readings for mileage to the meter are normally within 1mpg of calculated. You must reset it at each fill up. I also am wondering if I picked the right truck. I have always wanted a diesel but don't have a real need for it. Wondering if I should have just got the v10 since I really don't need all the torque and would have saved $4500. It was almost an impulse buy since I was tired of compromising on my vehicles. I guess I just said the heck with it. I just hope I don't run into any major repairs that I have been reading since I joined this site. Oh well to late now, I will just have to enjoy it. It is amazing though how they charge you for little things or just leave things out when you pay so much for these things.
fieldday, There are some posts on the "missing or hard to find heater cord" Look around the front tow hook on passenger side for 6.0 and drivers side for gasser. My dealer stated that if I couldnt find mine to drop by some time and they would show me. I did the 100 round trip as I thought I must be blind in one eye and very bad vision in the other as it had to be there.Dealer could not find it and then stated they were told that it became a "dealer request" for Ohio on the 6.0's for 2005 I just feel lucky to get a steering wheel without double checking the dealer request list !!

The engine block heater cord is standard equipment on 2005's only in AK, CO, IA, ME, MN, MT, ND, SD, WY and WI. So you should have one; but, it will take some looking to find it. The plug has a black rubber cover on it.
Just a few more things to add to the list after 170 total miles; the 3:73 lim slip is horrible, tranny groan at 65-70, and no lights on the bottom of the doors on a lariat.
