Engine Oil Question...
Note 15-40 is for use between 0*F-100*F, below 0*F use 10-30.
340,000 miles and still tickin. if it gets real cold where you live, i would run a 10 or 15-30 in the winter.but for avg temp above 70, i run straight 40 weight with 2 quarts of lucas per oil change. i add straight 40 between changes.i love mobil oil also. i used to run it all the time."straight 40" till you couldn't buy it by the barrel any more. then i switched to exxon. it's good oil for me. and you wouldn't catch me dead with a quart of rotella in my truck... just a personal opinion, but i had bad luck with it. bought a barrel one time to use in my dozers, cuz they were out of anything else, made all the seals in the engine and transmission start leaking. i even had one that the pan gasket strated leaking..
try and figure that one out. never rotella again. the rotella was a straight 40 also so it wasn't a difference in viscosity. i think all the "detergents" in the oil cleaned the "seal" right outta my oil seals.
