Will a manual engine harness work with an automatic transmission. I am trying to use a manual harness off a 95 truck in a 92 truck with an E4OD tranny. Where could I find wiring diagrams for this? Thanks
If you want the E40D to shift, you need a computer that can operate it, and the appropriate wiring from the computer to the trans.
You could probably use portions of a 95 manual trans harness to replace portions of the wiring between the computer and the engine. You can't use the 95 computer, unless you make other provisions to shift the trans (like a stand-alone Baumann trans computer). You have to splice the 95 harness pieces AFTER the 60 pin connector, because that connector supplies both the engine and trans.
This is one situation where an alldatadiy subscription might be worth the money, because you can get the wiring diagrams for both the original and donor trucks relatively cheaply ($24.99 for the first truck and $14.99 for each one after that). This project is a "considerable assembly required" and is not for the faint of heart.
I have a VEX1 computer and I have found a mustang mass air wiring harness that splices into the original harness. I am wondering if the pin connections are the same. I think it will work assuming all trucks wether they are sd or mass air have bank to bank injector firing orders.
