Angry Ouch my brain, TIRES.

Ok, I have been doing my homework on tires, I planned on picking some up next month, but getting a blow out on a shoulderless highway yesterday put some haste into it. Here is what i want, Bigger, good on snow and mud, but mainly road, quiet and looks good. This is what im looking at. BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO, Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo, Firestone Transforce AT, Yokohama Geolandar A/T Plus II. The nittos are cool as well. I think right now I am favoring the Yokohamas, I would rather have a better name though, They are cheap but have great reviews. Please give me your 2c. I would realy appriciate it.

from those options and that size id go with the yokohamas. firestones are normally pretty hard rubber so they suck in the rain/snow/and mud. i had yokohamas in that size before i put my 315/75/16 BFG all terrain TA on and the yokohamas did better in the snow and mud than these 35" BFG's.

From your options and from my personal experience with 4x4, 3/4 and 1 ton trucks the last 16 years the Revo's were the best tire that I ever had on any of my trucks. I wish they made it in 18 inch for my new truck. My second choice would be the BFG's they are well suited to the weight of diesels and wear very well.

I love my Bridgestone Revo's. I have had them a year now......ride great, great traction is all weather and road conditions, some road noise at highway speeds but not that much. I rotate them every 5k and wear great.......would buy them again in a heart beat.......they are pricy though....

My take: The B.F Goodrich's will probably do the best in snow & off-road but also the loudest (not that bad) highway tire. The Revos get great reviews but are not an agressive off-road tire- Similar to the Yokohama.

IMO It comes down to this: Do you want to 4 wheel/off road? Get the BF Goodrich-
If you want a smoother ride but still on occasion go off road- Go with the Revos or Yokohamas-
Leave the Firestones for someone else.

I just went from BFG AT's to PJ's and the BFG's were quieter, rode much better and I suspect will have lasted longer than the PJ's. However, the PJ's look better and have far superior offroad traction than the BFG's. Through the years I have gone through 4 sets of BFG's in both 33 and 35 inch and have gotten at least 45,000 miles out of each set, better than any of the other offroad tire that I have used (and that is a lot). In my opinion, if you do a lot of paved road driving and don't get in the mud much BFG's are hard to beat. If you are out for looks and do bit more offroading especially in any mud go with something more aggressive.

Have you looked at Kumho tires? I have the Adventure AT's and i love them. I live in Canada so i can tell you there great in snow. I have the 285's like your looking at. Drive nice on the highway and there not loud at all. I did a 3 point turn in my backyard with a snowmobile trailer on in over a foot of snow!! Hardly spun a tire (in 4x4 of course!!) Not telling you to buy them but have a look. Resonably priced to!! P.S. I have a 99 250 as well!!

BFG A/T - long lasting, fairly quiet, great all around performance. Will buy again unless I get a 37"

(another brand to consider) I am looking at Dick Cepek FCII because I want a 37/12.50/16 - anybody have experience with these? So far Ive heard good things except for the price - $270 each, normally $320
