Cool Engine Fire

Just had my 2001 Exp go up in flames. The fire started about 12:15 am. By the time I was woken up (12:30am) the fire had engulfed the Exp and hopped over to my 2003 Audi A4 both gone. Never a Ford again.

Any idea on the cause? Did the truck catch on fire itself, or was there something else that was burning nearby that ignited the truck? Sorry, just not exactly clear what happened here.

It apears to be the Cruise Control. Located on the drivers side in the engine compartment. My insurance company said there is an issue with Ford and this type of combustion. My wife and I were sleeping and the truck had not been run in 6 hours. Just sitting in driveway like normal.

A couple of months ago, I first heard about this; dismissed it out of hand. Now, one occurrence after another. I'm guessing the percentage is small but do we have something to worry about here or not? If so, what can we do about it?
