262 engine

How many of you have the 262 engine? I have been told that it is was not an engine option that many people took advantage of. I have a 64 I bought from the original owner. Only original part not on the truck, (except for the obvious stuff) is the oil bath filter. If anyone has one e-mail me. I WILL buy it. Keeping it as stock as it was in October of 63.

Just about. First, it was rare to begin with. Second, people are taking the cranks out of these truck motors and putting them in Ford tractors. Yep, with a little grinding here and there, they can be made into a stroker motor for a Ford tractor. Some of the pullers go crazy over the 262 crank. Better put a guard by your truck from now on......

The way I understand it, it was a one year only (64) option in pickups, It was a big truck engine otherwise, and I guess it never caught on, Maybe too close to a 292 to justify whatever price difference there was.
