E350 460 stalls when put in drive
Hi all! Hope someone can help with my problem.
Little background. It's an 1982 e350 van front with a motorhome on the back. It has a 460 in it with @42k miles. Last week I started out and only got about 5 miles when I got stuck in traffic and was on the brake constantly for about 10 minutes. Front brakes started locking up and eventually I could only go about 10 mph. I pulled over quickly when I could. Motor did get a little hot and did burp out a little coolant when I stopped. Checked the front wheels and they were locked. about 15 minutes later they were fine and I drove home.
I replaced the front calipers, flex lines and master cylinder and bled everything.
Went to start it and it didn't want to idle well and died when put in drive. It will idle ok but dies 2-5 seconds slowly after being put in drive. Friend said it sounds like a vacume leak. Pluged off the brake booster thinking I screwed it up, no luck. Engine reads about 15 on my vacume gague and does go up to 17-18 sometimes. Can rev the engine and it runs ok, just idleing? Checked all my vacume lines and tried spraying carb cleaner around with no luck.
Any advice before I have to go for professional help!
Much appreciated and thanks for taking the time to read this long post!
Dave
