Zeros or Heros ?

Hey chevymanTim, and anyone else who is interested, are they heros or zeros ? The "they" I am refering to are the Weaver family and the Branch Davidians. In my opinion they are heros. If you will study some of facts Tim, you will find that the Weaver family and Branch Davidians did not 'try to take on the FBI'. The FBI and ATF showed up uninvited and these people were trying to defend themselves. It seems quite clear to me that all off these folks wanted to be let alone. That is why they lived apart from mainstream society. In the Weaver case, the feds went out after him for not accepting their invitation to attend a court hearing. They were pissed because he sold someone a sawed-off shotgun. Who did he sell it to ? A federal agent that had been harrassing Randy for months. If the feds had not instigated the sale, the whole chain of events never would have started. As for the Branch Davidians, was the assault of their church anyting other than a demonstration of the governments power ? They weren't bothering anyone...... If you find their beliefs unorthodox, don't go the their church. I don't recall that they were conscripting members at gunpoint. As for civilian ownership of weapons, I think we are in deep trouble already. Most of our rights are gone. Sure the writers of our constitution had no idea that an M16 would be invented, but I believe they ment for us to have them. The idea at the time was that the citizens would have the same weapons the gov't soldiers did. Right now is unlawful for a private citizen to have armour-piercing amunition. But the police and the military are allowed to shoot at you with it. That seems to me to go against the idea of 'Securing a free state'. What do y'all think ? DF

Zeros or Heros ?

They were neither. I didn't approve of some the happenings inside the compound. It was a cult. So I cannot call them heroes. They were not zeroes from the standpoint they stood for what they believed in. Was Janet Reno wrong? Absolutely.

As far as the armor ammo. I haven't seen a vehicle to date (especially the new ones) that can stop SKS ammo and it's not the armor piercing stuff. The movies where cops stand behind cars is a joke. Those rounds zing through cars. The AR-15 is considerably smaller but will still scare the hell out of anyone on the receiving end and a AR-10 will really tear some stuff up. So I'm not concerned about the ammo issue. If you want to go down that road, I wouldn't mind having a rocket launcher or two. But that would really freak people out.

I am concerned that others will keep trying to take away our right to bear arms. And I will keep fighting them

Chevyman is gone so can we make this subject gone too? I'd rather not see another flame war start over this subject.
