Hi there.
Can someone help me out. I have an 84 Bronco, 302 CID, and a Motorcraft Carb (8191a) 2 Barrel. I want to find out exactly what the year is of my motor. Where do I find the ID?
I know that the year of the motor isn't an 84. I am suspecting it is a 79, and I'm pretty sure that the Carb isn't specifically made for that motor.
I am having lots of issues such as cold weather start, running very rough until it's good and warmed up, choke problems, cold fast idle, and the list goes on.
I have already changed fuel pump, fuel filter, added another fuel filter to verify flow of gas. (It's clear!!), plug wires.
My next step is Vacuum lines, but before I do that, I would like to find out if that is the proper carb for that motor.
On the block, about where the starter is but on the other side will be a casting number. C is for 60's D for 70's etc. The next number is the year, for example a D7XXX would bea 77, The number should read D (70's) 9 (79) You can also take a valve cover off and the number will be stamped on the top of the head. Do a search for casting numbers and you will find a lot more info. Hope this helps.
I was out there last night, didn't see it. Maybe I'm still looking in the wrong place. I think I identified the starter underneath the truck (by my Oil Pan right?)
