I have required the information i need to get a lift and i need to get the 81-96 lift kit! thanks a lot! you really helped out! Now i want to know what i need for the 4" lift, besides the kit that is. Do i need to extend my brake lines, or should I estend them? I also need to know if i will need to extend my drive shafts? I don't want them falling out while off-roading way in the cuts! LOL! Do you also know of any other modifications that i will need to do inorder to have a solid performing lift kit?
thank you for your time
The basic lift kit should include longer front coil springs, axle pivot and radius arm drop brackets, a dropped Pitman arm, blocks for the rear springs, and new shocks. Be sure the kit you buy has all of these components, as some may come without shocks or the Pitman arm, and you will have to spend extra $$$ for these otherwise. Optional items would be tubular, extended radius arms to increase front wheel travel, and lifted spring packs for the rear axle instead of blocks. You might consider installing polyurethane suspension bushings, or at least replacing the old factory ones with new ones. Don't forget that if you have the quad shocks up front, you will need two additional shocks or will have to leave one off per side. With a 4" or 6" kit, you do not need longer brake lines or have to modify the driveshafts. The critical last item would be a front end alignment after installing the lift, and you may need new camber bushings to get it right. Both camber and caster are affected, and the front end will get out of alignment after heavy offroading.
