Hello new to forum
Have a question, I have a 2001 f-150 supercrew 4x4 57000 mi. When I start from a stop and make a turn it vibrates feels like it may be from the back I have replaced both u-joints and have new tires. It is worse when I turn to the right vs. left also when I tow a trailer it is real bad even if turn is graduale. Seems to be worse if I do a slow turn vs. a more agresive turn. I bought the truck used it looked like some one was in the rear diff cover so I changed gear oil. When I changed the oil the oil was almost black I wonder if they did not use the right oil it has a limited slip if that could be the problem.
Thanks
I have the same issue with my 98. It feels like slip diferential...or what I think that would be. I don't know enough to be certain but it's real pervasive when the road is wet too. Hope someone knows what the issue is!
Be sure the friction modifier has been added in the right amount to the rear differential fluid. A limited slip will do exactly as you describe without the modifier added.
I have the same exact problem with my '99 SCab 4x4. You can view the thread "1/4 turn shudder" in this forum to see what everybody else has written. Some thought it was not-engaged front hubs, and I still haven't recieved any more info on that - if anybody knows how to check that please let me know. Also, ck1404, could you go into more detail about this "friction modifier", ie: does it need to be added to the front diff also? I'm assuming no because there's no front limited slip, but where can I get it, any way to tell if it's already in there, etc. thanks
