wolfdog: where do you live in Germany or Swiss? As a service member, I use to reside in Landstuhl and Heidelberg area. During my tour there, I was able to find that at the local military exchange. Do you know of any military service members maybe they'll hook you up. Just a thought. Although I miss Europe, I don't miss the gasoline price. Cheers!
ATC, the tolerances aren't any closer than back in 1997. This has been discussed on other threads in detail. The 5W-20 is to keep Ford from paying a penalty for not meeting the fuel emission and mileage standards at the time of manufacture. Back in 1997 Ford recommended using 10W 30 in the 5.4, 2 years later they published a technical bulletin recommending switching over to 5W-20 to meet the fuel and emission regs.
By publishing the notification, they kept from paying high penalties. Back in 97 the 5W-20 oil did not meet the Ford antiwear and additives stnadards to make this oil a reliable everyday and every climate lube. Honda has done the same thing, they have said use 10W -30 if the 5W-20 is not available, but when it does become available switch to 5W-20.

I live in Switzerland, Zürich. Go very often to Germany - saw one F-150 2004 Stuttgart . I'm originally from Finland. I would any day move from Switzerland to larger country -- if I could.
Thanks for the idea.
Well said KevinM,
Thanks for clearing that up. I was afraid that I was going to get turned in to Ford Motor Co for using 10w-30.
BTW, The rental car company that I purchased my truck from specifically told their jiffy lube to use the 10w-30. I highly doubt they would go against the grain and risk loss of warranty.
