I have a 1989 F150 6cyl with the manual 4 speed/overdrive transmission. It has 114,000 miles. Today I experienced a slipping clutch when accelerating up a hill in 3rd gear.
It is too wet and muddy to crawl under the truck right now to determine if the clutch is adjustable. Does the mechanical linkage on the hydraulic clutch allow for adjusting the pedal. A short pedal travel has always disengaged the clutch on this truck pretty quickly in the 16,000 miles I have owned it.
I would appreciate any insight into my hope that an adjustment may buy me some more time with this original clutch. Thanks.
Hydraulic in a 89. Your clutch hydraulics are probably dying. No adjustments available that I am aware of. If I were you I'd do both the master and the slave cylinder. They usually die in succession.
