idle ? cold --> warm
i have a "new" problem with my 351w in my ´92 F250,
When i start the engine cold, i have a idlespeed of about 1200 rpm, that sounds good, doesn´t it ?
So when i drive my truck to the next city it is warm but then the idle is about 1500 rpm until i restart the engine when it´s warm, then i have ~700-800 rpm idle, that sound´s good, too, or ?
Any suggestions ?
Andy
Warm idle of 700 to 800 RPM is about right.
Having the warm idle hang at 1500 RPM for long periods is not right. (A few seconds delay to go from 1500 down to 700 is OK -- 10 seconds or more is not).
It sounds like one of two possibilities.
Your IAC is sticking, or the computer is not recognizing that the throttle is at idle.
Check and clean the IAC valve. Check the TPS sensor for a closed voltage of around 0.9 volts.
