If you get the free paper called "the dollar stretcher" look in it this week they have a 1951 350 for sale in Ill. for $500 I'll try to post you the ad...
Hey 460/429 ... Thanx for the notification on the '51 F-1. I'll try to find the paper and check it out. Meantime - - - I've got the ole' "shoebox" '49 Ford 2 door home (butt ugliest thang ya' evver saw) and soaked down with WD-40 awaiting spring to yank the flathead 8 out of it for my '51 F-1 (hope they'll interchange ... should I suppose?) Meantime, if anybody needs a little re-platable grille or bumpers for same, maybe we can do some swappin' or something. I've been told by a couple of guys that I may need to go through 3 or 4 flatheads to find a complete engine that doesn't have cracked heads or blocks, mainly attributable to the overheating situation supposedly prevelant to that type engine due to sorry design with the waterpumps. I'll find out or say to heck with it and install the 302 EFI out of my totalled out '90 F-150 ... I sure do prefer origional though if I can find it. Later.
Boy ... did I evvur blow this one I called the number you PM'd me thinking it was you I was calling. Thanks 4 the phone number about the parts truck for my '51 F-1
Oh yea! I worked down there for a little while while Union went on strike. I was doing installation and repair of phone lines for SBC. I really liked Fredericktown. GREAT little town. If I was gonna live anywhere but where I do, I'd probably move down to that area. Got my first deer rifle in a little shop just off 67, Sherrer's. Great place to stop for a sandwich and a Coke.

"Missouri Mudder" ... I like that !!! How goes dudes ? I'm in Kennett Missouri ... One mile from Bill Clinton country (Arkansas) and enjoy driving around checking out vintage tin ... I've done a little scouting on 67 Hwy up to St. L. before. 460 - I called the number and the nice gentleman from around Anna, Ill. gave me a call back about his '51 F-1 ... When I get a chance I want to drive up & take a look at it. I've got a great 77 Continental Mark 5 w/460 4BBL that's excess to me ... a '50 2 door "shoebox" Ford that's 4 sale after I yank the flathead out of it for my '51 F-1 and I've got a 77 Ford F-100 with a 351 modified (400 c.i. engine) that's excess, a loaded with options but totalled out '90 F-150 XLT Lariat with what WAS (and I guess it still is) a low milage 302 EFI before that dummy pulled out in front of me and I creamed out the L.F. fender on his 2002 GMC (That's "Get Me A Crescent") pick-up ... The engine on my truck died instantly when I hit him at 40 MPH but I guess it's alright? (hoods buckled up in the middle and it's gonna' take a cuttin' torch to get the hood raised !!! Did sumbodddy say "deer hunting" LOL Coffee's on me if you guys make it down this way. Later.
yeah I want to make it down there to look at your 50 car!
mmm deer hunting I just started it this year since I own 35 acres to hunt on and since my land joins my uncle (80 acres) it makes 115 acres to hunt on you look at that 460 for your selve? my truck (the pic by my name ) need one real bad it been sitting 3 year waiting... make sure it's a 460 I looked at a MarkV once supposed to have a 460 then I looked at it....400M oh well for $150 bucks I drove the car home and slapped that motor in my truck till I broke the crank in half hey pm your number well get together soon like to look at yer ford stuff...
I thought GMC ment General Motors Crap
It's definately a 460 engine. It's a darned good car ... much more than a parts car. Yellow w/brown vinyl roof I call it the "bananna boat" LOL I turned over 100K miles on it myself and it's not got too many miles since then. I havn't driven it in about 4 years but I do start it up periodically and drive it around the yard to keep the wheel cylinders and tranny loosened up. The '50 shoebox is absolutely butt ugly !!!! It's a parts car - beyond restoration. I'm a megga computer dummy and don't know how to PM on this thang You PM me and I'll call you. What'cha think?
He's outside Anna, Illinois ... Not far from Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The F-150 I kinda' plan on removing the cab and cutting the frame to make a nice trailer to go with my '91 F-150. Not sure yet. Both fuel tanks are great on it ...everything's there practically. LOTS of options in the cab - P/W P/doorlocks, etc. Will possibly change them over to my '91. Meantime, the low milage 302 EFI sits there under the hood going to waste. Might be interested in doing some trading on it or sell it outright???
hey fordspokenhere.... I talked to that guy sunday he has 10-12 flatheads in the sheds and said he may be willing to trade some flatheads for your shoe box... gues I need to get my butt down to kennets soon and snap some pics huh.
Hey 460 ! I had the ole' shoebox on my trailer today and was washing the flathead and tranny when good ole' "hillbilly Hod Rod" pulled up (1st time I've met him in person - nice dude.) and we idled away 75 cents worth of quarters at the car wash. As it turns out, he's restoring a '49 shoebox and needed parts off of mine megga bad ... so I committed to selling it to him AFTER I yanked the motor and tranny and a few other thangs outta' it. Tomorrow morning I'm heading outside of Cape G. to probably buy that '51 F-1 flatbed with a 6 banger motor that ain't stuck and the ole' 3 on a tree. He's gonna let me plunder another '51 F-1 that he's got there at my leasure all for the same $ NOW THEN ... After all that's over, I found me a very nice '52 complete with unstuck flathead 8 to stick aside and await it's turn ... My neighbors are gonna' KILL me (Lord Mr. Ford, would you look at what you've done ) I may very well find myself in need of you're friend with his flathead collection ... I gotta' block or two to get checked out fer cracks and such before the fun can begin in rebuilding them. Coffee's still on me dude ... Later.
