Lifter preload ?
I'am going to put a cam in for more torque.I hearing about a shim kit for pre load or convert to roller rocker.What will be the problem by just replacing the cam? 79' 460.This has been one hell of a learning experenice.

If you don't have the proper amount of pre load the cam will wear out quicker and may even wipe a lobe out during break in. The shim kit is the easiest way to do it for non adjustable rockers. I have used the ones from Crane.
