i bought a 56pu and the doors are remote controlled for opening. the doors do have the original original handles but i need the rest of the hardware to bring it back to mechanical opening. i really would like to know if there are any newer ford vehicles that i could use the parts to complete this fit. thanks for any input.
You probably could but it would be a lot of work & more trouble than it's worth. Your best bet would be to buy the hardware which is completely available through places like Mid-Fifty, Sacramento Vintage Ford, NPD, LMC, Blue Oval, etc. Check the parts shop up at the top right.

I used mid 70's latches because I didn't want to cut a groove in the inside of my door for the aftermarket bear claw latches.
Do you have the original latches or are they bear claw?
If they are the bear claw type you will have to fill the opening for them and then figure out how to recut the correct opening for the stock latches.
I have all the stock stuff except the link for the inside handle has been modified.
Take a look at my album titled maverick latches and I think it shows the stock latch opening, then take some time to think about what you might want to do. The bear claw latches are a 100 percent better then the stock latches.
You may want to spend some time and see if you can make the stock outside handles work with what ever latches you have. In fact try and take some pictures of what you have.
