Dana 44 swap
I have a 74 Highboy. 390/np 435 4 spd/ divorced np 205. The truck currently has the factory closed knuckle drum brake front end. I have a open knuckle dana 44 out of a 78 lowboy F-250. Both front ends hve a 4.09 gear ratio. Will the open knucle 44 fit in my Highboy? Are the spring perches in the same place? Will the front drive line fit? The higher pinion and disk brakes are what I am after. Has anyone else done this swap? How do you like it? The steering on the Highboy has all ready been converted to power steering. The steering box came off the same truck as the front end. The open knuckle font is the same one that is in my 78 F-250 4x4. Thanks in advance for any replies.
