I was looking around for some accessories for my Escape and came across an item from ford called a Cargo Area Power Point Outlet that lets you install a dc outlet in the rear cargo area on the drivers side. Has anyone every installed one of these? How hard was it?
I've never used one of their kits, but I have installed these before. Nothing to it really. I have a distribution block I run the power off to the outlet. Make sure you put an inline fuse in also. Then run a ground to the frame or other good ground. I've got two of them in the back of my Explorer, and plan on putting an A/C plug back there also. I'll put a regular plug in the molding liek the D/C plugs, and run a power wire to a power converter behind the moldings.
They are simple to put in - if you can cut a round hole pretty good...
Well apparently my Escape already has one. Didn't even notice it at the dealer . Boy I feel like an idiot. Thanks for the help anyway guys! That’s why I love this site.
I think they stripped them from production to make it cost less to make after that. Cool that you have them, though. I bet it would be quite usefull when camping or something.
