[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Oct-02 AT 09:03 PM (EST)]For those of you familiar with the 6.9 (and I'm sure others), when cold the engine advances and goes to fast idle (rattles a lot). After warmup it kicks down the idle and retards (and quiets down).
My truck after fully warm and on the road will all of a sudden start to rattle like it's cold and advanced. Then out of nowwhere it will stop and go normal. Someone told the advance piston is sticking in the injection pump. Is this correct? If so can one pull it apart and clean it up say with crocus cloth or something like that or am I looking at a new pump?
