I have the old switch wired single feed... BUT... I had been considering the circuit breaker... I have a NOS circuit breaker as well that I haven't installed yet. I will install it and see if it helps or not. Will also test the lead to see if it's getting the correct voltage.
Are you jumpering the single feed to the second input on the NOS switch then?
As Craig said the OEM switches have two separate circuits that each requires it's own feed. If you are single feeding just the headlight circuit portion of the switch only the headlights are going to work. You need to run power to the other input on the switch before everything else will work.
I don't have an electrical schematic for the 49, but I wonder if the separate feeds for the light switch were originally fused separately? If they were, you might want to fuse them separately again. Using a jumper between the two switch feed connections might be OK just to check the system out, though.
The wiring schematic shows 2 power wires coming off the circuit breakers, one from each breaker. If you have the sw in your hand with the **** towards you, the right hand side, first terminal towards you, goes to the top breaker, It's a black with orange tracer. The other one is the second terminal on the left, ( middle )yellow with red tracer. It goes to the bottom circuit breaker.
For those interested in the solution for future reference: the circuit breaker was bad. One side was stuck open not allowing circuit completion. I replaced it with an NOS circuit breaker... and like magic, my NOS headlight switch worked properly!!
