EX Vibration...torque convertor? HELP
Within 5 miles of driving it, I get the vibration at 35 mph. So I thought maybe it could be the torque convertor. I was just upset that I paid $300.00 for a steering link and front shocks that didn't solve any problem.
I called my transmission guy and he said it might be a the torque convertor chatter. He said there's an additive that he can put in to see f it works. Any truth to this? If not, what will it cost to replace the convertor. Also I have been getting a foul odor.
Any suggestions?
I got frustrated and took my Excursion to the dealer to get it diagnosed. The mechanic did feel the vibration. He also noted that two coils needed to be replaced. He said he would change it and maybe the vibration/shutter would go away. The dealer called to say it was ready to be picked up. I picked it up yesterday and drove it down the highway. NO VIBRATION! I guess it running bad had send a code to the trans.
I then dropped it off to the brake shop to get the rotors turned. They called a little while ago and said I am getting a vibration and the clunking noise was from a right lower ball joint. So that goes in to another guy tomorrow.
The Excursion is nice vehicle, but has way too many mechanical and electrical problems at 91,000 miles. I had a 97 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 and had less problems with 162,000 miles.
