Well through some of my ads for a '41-'46 truck I had a reply last night. The man said he had a Ford that fit my year range. I'm not really looking for a Ford but I'd like to know what it is. He says he thinks it's a '42 but here is his description: split windshield, teardrop shaped head lights on fenders, grill comes up with hood. I know that's not much to go on but see if you can figure out what year it is. I know the '42 didn't have teardrop headlights. I'm assuming no title since he's guessing at the year and I've e-mailed him back to get some pics. Let me know if you can figure it out. I'm not sure what he means by "grill comes up with hood".
It sounds like he has either a 40 or 41. I think what he means by the grill going up with the hood is that the 40/41 are kind of V shaped and are contoured with the hood. Check out our 41 in my photo gallery to see what I'm talking about.
Also, I think that these are the only 2 years that used the teardrop headlight rings.
If the price is right, the bed shouldn't be an issue. Most of the beds are eaten out pretty bad anyway. If not eaten out, their extremely used and abused and need much repair.
You can always get a re-man bed, fabricate your own or try an S-10 or Ranger bed.
Keep us informed on what's happening and good luck.
Hmm. So he said it was a Ford, cause ****** trucks had a grill that went up with the hood for a few years, that is when you opened the hood. Hmm.. and maybe he ment teardrop shaped lights like the pods sitting on top of the fenders like the larger trucks did (see avitar). Nevermind. Don't let me confuse you. Good luck and we'll be here for any further questions!
That's a '40-'41 Ford 3/4 ton or bigger truck. It might be a truck of over 1 ton, which would explain why it has no bed, they did not have pickup style beds over 1 ton. The turn signals sound like aftermarket additions.
Looks like a '40 to me. I think you can see the V8 stamp on the front forward side of the hood. 41's did not have that stamp because a 4 cyl engine was available. In '40 it was only a V8 that was available.
