F100

Hi Folks,

This may have been written about already. I tried to search the forum but I have one of the cheap tickets and the search engine shut me out due to the load on the system.

I own a 93 Ranger and it has been a GREAT truck. Trust me, I have abused the crap out of this thing and it keeps going.

I have been very disappointed that Ford is in the process of surrendering the small truck market by not keeping the platform current. It looks like Toyota will pass them very soon.

I just bought a new 04 F150. Great truck but another story. I passed the ranger onto my son. When buying the F150, the sales rep and I discussed the Ranger. He indicated that Ford is investing in a replacement for the Ranger that will be titled the F100. He said it will be a .75 scale of the F150 and Ford will stop investing in the Ranger essentially letting it die.

Anyone heard anymore on this? Any bits of triangulation to lead me to believe this is true?

Thanks in advance

I've heard nothing about Ford dropping the Ranger platform. I sincerely hope it isn't true. There is no need for an "F-100", I think that it's a terrible idea. The F-150 is king of the hill, why put out a platform that would clearly compete with it? The Ranger is the ideal solution for those people looking for something just as tough and versatile as the F-150 but with a little less size.

Bad idea all the around. Let's hope the sales rep was dead wrong on this one.
