I'm on the very north end, and Iowa leader, but if noone else will do it, I guess I'll take it on, most of our people are in the central area. (yes, I live in Missouri and am Iowa leader, but I grew up there, and am closer geographically to them than most of our guys here) I would prefer someone else take it on, but it seems we are a little weak on participation. I don't know what has happened here, it was so active a year ago.I would hate to see it go away though. I would need help from all the members in their respective areas to make this work. But that's the way it should be anyway. Thank you for the nomination, though.

Everybody remember, we have until Saturday to get this handled, and can always re elect later, but to sit back and say nothing now could mean this forum will be shut down, so lets get to it!

ya know fellro, mabey i shouldnt have nominated you. you have enough to do to keep the iowa chapter running, with out trying to make 2 chapters work. if the people in the chapter dont care enough to take the reins, then well, mabey it should be closed. i hate to see it, but mabey it would be for the best.

kinda seems that way, doesn't it? I do have the time, more so than most, but if I can't get the return, what's the point?

So if there's no leader... the chapter folds? Can't it just hang out until theres
activity again? Then elect a leader?

it has been hanging out for a few months without a leader already, that's the problem. It's the rules from the top, not much we can do, short of making our own website and investing the time and money like is done here. The administration makes the rules, and we abide by them, or leave, that's the choices. The chapter can be brought back when there is more activity available, but it will take a little more to bring it back than it would to keep it. If let run on without a leader, what incentive would there be to get one, if we could get by without one? That is the problem, we have been coasting for quite a whilee, and no leader was elected. The only problem I have with it is that I wasn't even aware that we had no leader until recent, no notice was made, and I hadn't paid enough attention to catch it, or ask the questions.

I was under the impression this was a online thing.
Chapters are supposed to meet offline ? My mistake.

You can nominate & elect a Chapter leader on-line.

One of the problems has been Lots of *Parts wanted & for sale* & general chit chat with no real focus for where the chapter wants go (ahead) in things.
Just look at a few of the others,One even has merchandise for sale for its members.

The parts swapping threads are a BONUS for having a chapter that's active.
Not the other way around.

At onetime this chapter was the supreme chapter on FTE.

even look to the north, to the Iowa chapter. While we have a thread for the sale and wanted, it is just that, a thread. The dominant force is each other. We also have merchandise available to our members, as well as bumper stickers.

All of this sounds like a good idea, but it doesn't seem to have enough activity.
Hazelwood lost a shift at thier plant and not a peep about it the missouri chapter. At least not from what I've read. Parts people went on strike recently and I couldn't get parts from a nearby dealer. People on news were complaining their cars couldn't be repaired because the dealers couldn't get parts....not a word in the chapter...I thought they were major issues that would have been talked about in this forum. It would have cool to go to something in St.Louis area, but you can't have everything. There would need to be a small core group to keep this going which I don't get that impression in this chapter.

We have plenty of members, I just don't know where they are, we had a real good core a year ago, but seem to have run away now. There are a good many members in the St Louis and KC area, but can't seem to be found here. I don't get it, even just a few months ago this place was fairly active. There will be lulls, but this is ridiculous. BTW, I didn't know abaout those events, but I'm a long ways away from all of that, I have 15 miles to go and I'm into Iowa.
