I just bought a 82 f150 with a 351w and a c6 tranny. I put a new Holley 600 in the truck. The truck didn't have a kickdown installed from the tranny to the carb. I got a kickdown rod from the junkyard but I don't have think I installed it right. Can someboby send me a picture of the correct install on the tranny and the carb. Can I install a cable instead of a rod?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Oct-02 AT 03:03 AM (EST)]x_usmc_x, Does your new Holley have the provision for the Ford kickdown? Do you for sure have the right rod?
No you cannot readily use a cable for the kickdown on the C-6. Or not that I know of anyway.
The kickdown rod is usually easy to install. It just fastens to the transmission on the drivers side by the gear selector with a 1/4" e-clip if I remember right, then the same on the carburetor behind the throttle linkage. I don't think you can hook it up backwards, it should fit only one way.
I had to buy a kickdown kit for my Holley. I might not have the right rod. Is there supose to be a bracket to limit the movement of the kickdown. If there is there was not one on my truck.
Chuck, got any pictures and/or drawings? I have a street avenger carb and am getting ready to swap a C6 in behind my 351W in place of the 3 spd w/overdrive. Any help would be appreciated.
I have a 351w with c6 and a digital camera. Email me and i'll be happy to take a pict or 3 of it and send them on, though I still have the motorcraft 2100 carb.
