Anything special needed for the front brake job? 2002 F350 SRW 4x4. any kind of special bolts etc.? How bout Pads,, what do ya'll reccommend? I have a Napa,Oreillys and Autozone close to me, but thats it.Can do the online deal though. Just wanted to make sure there wasnt any surprises before i get some pads and take the front wheels off, I have done plenty of front brake jobs, just never on a Superduty, I usually trade them before brakes are ever needed..!! Appreciate the help guys....
I did brakes on my 02 7.3l 250 4x4 CC lariat last month. I also had about 60k on it. I used the pads from orielly and opted for the sever duty pads. about 65 for the front set. Plan on having the rotors turned because they will need it. Its a real simple brake job but make sure you have some bearing grease in case you find out like I did that the guide pins between the inside and outside pieces of the caliper are sticking. You iwll need to remove the pins and regrease them. From now on I will regrease them anytime I do the front brakes because I had one that was siezed and cauzed uneven pad wear.
Be sure who ever turns the rotors knows the difference between composite and regular rotors. If you have composite rotors and they don't use the right blades it can jump and damage the rotors. Most shops know the difference now, but there was a time they didn't. I did my 350 drw at 60K. The pads were fine but the rotors had heat skip and that made it seem like the pads were gone. I replaced both anyway. Also, be sure to tighten the lugs in an even pattern. Some superduties have had warping problems after brake jobs from overtightening the lugs and not tightening them in an equal sequence. That may have just been the DRW's though. Don't remember now.
