I believe I made the mistake of not getting my 2004 F-150 STX with power adjustable pedals. My foot seems to get sore after awhile because of the way the brake and gas pedals are installed. They seem like they are way too close to me... forcing me to keep my foot arched up.
Is there any way I can adjust the pedals or have them customized without the power adjust option?
Welcome to FTE STXABYSS. How much of your foot do you use when driving? It sounds like quite a bit. Also, how close do you sit to your steering wheel? I have no issues with my non powered pedals. I drive with only a small portion of my foot (the very tip most of the time). You might be able to add the adjustable pedals after the fact, but expect to pay a pretty penny for them.
I use only the the tip of my foot, but it still doesn't feel right. Actually I have my seat back as far as it could go and I'm only about 5'11 in height which isn't enormous. Its kind of weird because I never thought I would feel restricted since the cab is so spacious.
How much would an adjustable conversion kit cost? Also it doesn't even have to be "power" adjustable.
Oh...thank for the greeting!
You can't add the Adjustable pedals for these trucks, I have asked. I too am having your same problem, but I am 6'6" tall, I have the adjustable pedals, but unfortunately, the position of the pedals all the way down is the same position they are in if you don't have adjustable pedals, I get this option for my wife who is 5'3".
Anyway, this is one of the few things that I am dissapointed with when compared to the 03' f150 Super Crew that I traded in for this 05 SCRew. I have noticed less leg room all around on the new one. But there are many things that I like much better that outweigh the few negatives.
I don't like the adjustable pedals on my '05 (or maybe the standard pedals are the same?) The gas pedal doesn't go close enough to the floor - I like resting my foot on the floor "sideways" and using only my toes against the gas pedal - but with my adjustable pedal, the pedal is a couple inches from the floor, and my toe sometimes slips slips off the pedal and under it. I wish the pedal was closer to the floor. My '99 F150 didn't have this problem.
mine is an 04 too; wonder where my window sticker is, i remember it being listed as 200 something on the sticker, i didnt care about it but i liked the truck so i had to pay for a few of the options it already had. oh well.
Oh well...I guess I can try getting a different pedal that has some movement if I can't adjust the pedals. I don't mind it that much, but it just adds a little bit of discomfort while driving my 04' STX reg-cab. I'll try to figure something out. Other than that, I love my new truck! Any other advice?
My brother has the same problem with his scab. He has a car seat behind him that forces him to be too close to the wheel. Says his foot and knee hurt all the time. His other car was a focus. It had no arm rest so he used to hook his hand around the passenger headrest....now the dock says it gave him tennis elbow! He's a mess!
Ok...I understand that getting power adjustable pedals at this point is either too expensive or not even an option. Isn't there any other way to fix this problem. Cutting? Welding? Different brackets? It can't be impossible...or can it????
If I understant correctly, you want the pedals further away. Power adjustable pedals wouldn't do that anyway, they would raise the pedals, making them closer.
I'm on a business trip right now, and can't check my truck. But, I remember that the rubber pedal covers are kind of thick. Perhaps a set of after market pedal covers would suit you better?
Another possibility; there have been some posts on raising the seat height. Try doing a search to see if that might be an option for you.
