Preresquisite for Drivers Licence

Some people should not be driving. Thats obvious. To weed them out and to keep other like them from driving, lets try this.

To get your driver's licence you must do 7 out of 10 to pass:

1. Pull into a parking spot straight on the first try 5 times in a row with no back ups to straighten out.

2. Back into a parking spot straight on the first try 5 times in a row with no back ups to straighten out.

3. Parallel park with 2 backups 5 times in a row.

4. Back into a driveway off of a busy road at 5 different locations, each on randomly with only one shot at it.

5. Drive at night on a high traffic interstate highway during a rainstorm for 3 exits.

6. Go the speed limit on the 45mph "secondary" back roads. If you go more than 5 under, even uphill and around a bend, unless extremely dangerous to do so, you fail.

7. Back up a winding driveway or trail only using your mirrors and going as fast as you safely can.

8. Back up a relatively straight driveway or trail with mirrors on the first run and on the way back, the arm goes over the back of the passenger seat and turn your head to look out the rear winshield. If your neck doesn't go that way too well, you fail.

9. Make a left on a four lane highway with a turning lane in the middle during a high traffic time of day.

10. Hook up a boat and drive down the interstate with the boat swaying back and forth.

#1-3 would be done between real cars with people on your tail waiting for you to park.

All of these would be done in a Ford F-350 Crew Cab Longbed Dually.

Hopefully this will weed out the bad teen drivers. Heck, maybe their parents would learn a few things if thier kids are turning out to be better drivers than they are in the first couple months of having their licence.

That was made in good humor, hopefully nobody thought I was being a jerk by doing that. Heck, I'm a teen driver myself and if I could do all of that, I would be a better driver than almost everyone in my school, not to mention a few adults I know.

O man, you dont want to live in rich spoiled kid land like me. Most all people here who know how to drive would go crazy listening to what some kida complain about here. I will elaborate if necessary.

I'm not saying that every teenager is a horrible driver, I just mean that if you can't do that, moybe just the first 3 at most, then you probably should not be driving right away. I didnt mean to bring this to a heated discussion.

Teen drivers dont bother me a bit. Try sharing the road with adult recent arrivals from Asia and Latin America.

Yeah, I've noticed this as well. Although, I was an awful teen driver. Not like too slow, no turn signal....I just thought I was better then everyone. Started to get aggressive, even ripped my first car down a couple of highways to "clean out the carburetor". Finally, after a few HP's not understanding that I was "trying to remove carbon buildup" and a few tickets later, I learned my lesson. Nothing like a few close calls from others to smack some sense into you either.

I'm a teen, who also owns a F350 CC Longbed DRW (see gallery), and I can only do about 3 of those stated lol Backing down my driveway at night only using my mirrors as fast I can safley go, I would end up in my neighbors kitchen across the street.

But there in lies the difference...you KNOW this and choose not to test your boundaries. You may be a better driver then you think.

As far as 7&8 - here in MA if you use mirrors to back up on your test you fail for not looking where you are driving. Fortunately someone told me this soon enough that I could relearn how to back up.
Also, add that this must all be accomplished in a manual transmissioned vehicle without stalling or undue clutch slipping.
I'm a teen driver too, and although I can't say I can do all these things, I know my limitations and try to improve my skills every chance I get.

Actually, the mexicans and the other latinos arent too bad, because they have practice from driving around to do manual labor.(BTW, that is not meant to be a racial slur). But what angers me is the Adult imigrants from aisa who drive 20 in a 45 MPH zone among other things, But they arent the only ones. I have seen plenty of caucaisans who cant drive if their life depended on it either

I drive about 150 miles everyday, all city. I've only been involved in one collision, when another driver pulled out if front of me. I drive everything from small trucks, to 1 ton vans, automatics and manual trannies....

Personally,
I think you ought to add manuvering through a local Wal-Mart or Costco parking lot, in a nice big truck.
