need help-points to duraspark

Here's what I've got; pulled a 302 w/ pts. engine and replaced it with a 77 351m/400 with duraspark. I mounted the duraspark unit on the 74 fenderwell near the starter solenoid and have the fire wall plug that feeds the points ignition. I just can't get fire to the distributor. Can anyone give me a clear and simple solution to get this truck out of my garage. I did this job for a friend with no funds involved and I'm at my wits end.

UMMMMM guys?

Im struggling with this conversion too, have an issue with eternal cranking once the key is turned, thinking duraspark diagrams from a newer system arent appropriate for something being converted from points......

does this look better?

That was a good diagram, and here's another.

If you want to go back to points, you can go to the store and get a points distributor for a 351 cleveland engine. It will fit your 351m/400.

definatly do not use a reagular duraspark diagram

the diagrams icicle and franklin2 posted have 1 start and 1 run position
the oem duraspark diagram has 2 start and 1 run and when everything is hooked up as soon as you crank the motor it continuues to crank untill you yank enough wires off of it to make it stop.

Thanks for the schematics. As far as the eternal cranking thing. Just disconnect the white wire. I read somewhere that the white wire only retards the timing in the distributor for cold starting. I had to do that. Just put a 250 I6/C4 out of a Granada into my Ice Cream truck. Swapped out a 240 I6 with points. The electronic ignition is working great. Looked all over the web for the information and found it here.

Also, toward the comment about distributor swap, 429/460 distributer will work in a 351M/400. Just make sure you hook the spark plug wires up right!
